For offer is an exceptional, very early, Doulton Lambeth jug by arguably their most famous artist, George Tinworth. George Tinworth studied at the Lambeth School of Art under John Sparkes and at the Royal Academy. In 1866, he was among the first students employed by Henry Doulton to work for Doulton's Lambeth factory. The jug is dated 1874 The background of the jug is brown and it is delightfully decorated with blue florets within diamond shapes and enhanced by decorative pinnacles. The jug is stamped on the base with the early Doulton Lambeth mark and dated 1874 together with the George Tinworth mark clearly engraved together with that of an assistant.
