Description

For offer is an outstanding Meissen porcelain figure of a cook at the stove
Circa 1755
Modelled by Peter Reinecke, wearing a striped red cook's hat, and tasting the contents of the bubbling put over a brick stove. On a rocaille base heightened in gilt.
14 cm high
Crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, and inventory number inscribed in red ink to base,
Exhibited at Leipzig, Gohliser Schlößchen, 'Sachsens Gold im Schlößchen', 29 April-10 June 2001
In excellent condition with only the left forearm restored (spray). and with insignificant rubbing wear
to the corners of the stove.
